Metal Gear and The Witcher Leading Nominees for the Game Developer’s Choice Awards

The Game Developer’s Choice Awards are fast approaching, with the ceremony to be held on March 16th this year in San Fransisco. Lauded as the leading peer-based video games event, celebrating the top games and developers of the year, it’s looking to be a very special evening, and will be hosted by Funomena co-founder and veteran developer, Robin Hunicke.

Every game released in 2015 is eligible for nomination, regardless of platform or sales, but two nominees are leading the way currently, with Metal Gear Solid V and The Witcher 3 both nominated in four categories each, surpassing titles such as DICE’s Battlefront and Bethesda’s Fallout 4, which both received nominations in three categories. We will, of course, get the full list down at the bottom of the page for you.

The event’s host, Robin Hunicke has been in the industry for over a decade, and has established her career with contributions to a number of popular titles including The Sims 2, Boom Blox, and Journey. With a background in computer science, and applied game studies, Hunicke is certainly recognized as an influential woman in gaming, and an outspoken evangelist for diversity of thought and participation in game design and game culture.

One great thing to see on this list is that there are two acclaimed independent games gracing the list, with Her Story and Undertale receiving two and three nominations respectively. We’re looking forward to see how they stack up against the titles nominated from the mainstream publishers.
