Sticking with the piratical theme, one of our favourite flashbacks took a look at another sandbox game, this time by the wonderful Sid Meier. His Pirates! title really shines through as a gem of the PS2 and Xbox era and still gets top marks from us.
Moving on from its origins on the Commodore 64 the contempo-retro (it’s a word I’m working on, bear with it) entry from 2004 really hoisted my flag and I can still today spend countless hours with Captain Pixel, sailing the ocean waves, although technically as I have a letter of marque I’m a privateer, rather than a pirate but let’s not get bogged down with all that again.
The title was made backwards compatible and downloadable on the Xbox 360 for under under £6.99 so if you are able to, it’s still worth a look. Take a gander at the ins and outs of it as we take a look back at it right here
