Duke Nukem 3d: 20th Anniversary Releases

Hail to the king, baby. The Duke has returned to seriously prod some alien donkey and generally save the world. The 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour is available TODAY from 5pm PDT on PS4, Xbox One and of course via Steam. The MSRP is a fairly low $19.99 and with never before seen content and for the first time on the current Gen, our trigger fingers are already itchy

The duke first stole out hearts two decades ago now, and as one of the landmark shooters we’re willing to forget a couple of, shall we say less favourable pit stops along the way. In the words of Steve Gibson, head of Gearbox Publishing –

“We feel there isn’t a better way to celebrate 20 years of Duke Nukem 3D than to get the original team back together and provide this love letter to Duke fans. With all-new content built on top of what is undeniably one of the most iconic first-person shooters in gaming history, this is the ultimate Duke Nukem experience for both seasoned fans of the title and gamers from a new generation experiencing it for the first time.”

This all new adventure of course has the entire world resting on the shoulders of The King himself, and travelling to eight iconic new locations, gunning down the alien invaders on his way. It’s a Fifth episode for duke fans to sink their teeth into, and the fact that it’s come back today with the original Duke Nukem designers really means it keeps hold of that vintage aesthetic.

In addition to the original game in it’s full glory, the 20th Anniversary Edition World tour also includes;

  • All new level designs from the original creators
  • All new music and the return of Jon St. John with classic one liners from the King
  • An all new behind the scenes documentary from the original development team
  • Instant real time changes between original 1996 graphics, and today’s improved fidelity and frame rates, using Gearbox’s all new Tru3D Rendering mode
  • Online 8 player Dukematch or 8 Player co-op

It’s one to keep an eye on that’s for sure, and knowing the team behind it, it’s obvious they are capable of great things. the trailer is above, as ever but let us know that you think in the comments below or on your favourite flavour of social media
